Habitats)
Ann Marie Valencia illustrated this
scientific book written by Vincent BOULLET and published by the
Natural History Museum, Reunion Département, (ca 2006)(974-Saint-
Denis: Impr. Dionysienne) - 1 vol. (96 pages). Now available in the
collection « Biodiversity of la Reunion » (see « Latest events »).
Ann Marie Valencia worked for two
years on these illustrations in watercolour and pastel travelling
around the island - from the sea shore, through marshes and savannah,
primeval forests and up to the volcano - to make sketches in situ and
take photos to help her compose atmospheric paintings of the natural
habitats and certain plants in an artistic way rather than as a
botanical study. Sonia RIBES-BEAUDEMOULIN, the Natural History
Museum's Curator, was the project's coordinator and oversaw the work
of several artists over a period of 5 years on various aspects of the
Biodiversity of Reunion Island (see « Latest events » to read about
the collection that has since won the distinguished prize « Prix du
Livre Insulaire 2009 »).

of the underprivileged areas of this large island. Enfants du Monde
(Reunion and Madagascar) funds schooling, nursing dispensaries and
