The collection of books Biodiversity of Reunion Island - among which is the book on natural habitats (Milieux naturels) illustrated by Ann Marie Valencia in 2006 - was awarded the « Prix du Livre insulaire 2009 » prize in the Beautiful Books category!
The prize is a fine reward for the boxed set which has become a model for books in its category, aiming towards increased scientific awareness through its attractive presentation.
The 6 books in the collection published by the Natural History Museum in la Réunion are respectively devoted to the natural habitats of the island, its mammals, reptiles and amphibious creatures, its birds, insects, whales and dolphins, and extinct animals - all illustrated by professional artists. To complete the set, the catalogue of a photographic exhibition is included - Hymn to Reunion's Nature from an event organized by the Museum in 2008.
